The Controller will oversee Cadent’s accounting operations, including revenue recognition, billing, AR/AP, and financial reporting. This individual will build and manage a high-performing accounting team, ensure compliance with GAAP, and drive process improvements. The ideal candidate has deep accounting expertise, a proven track record in ad tech or SaaS, and hands-on experience with systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, and Concur. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to both manage a team and personally execute key accounting processes. It will require a minimum of 2-3 days in the Philadelphia office.

 

The Controller will be a key driver of finance transformation, leveraging automation, AI, and data analytics to streamline operations, enhance accuracy, and improve decision-making. This leader will balance rigorous compliance with innovation, building scalable accounting systems that support Cadent’s growth trajectory.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations for revenue accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing, client collections, and vendor payments
  • Work with the Director of Finance to lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with US GAAP
  • Manage revenue recognition for complex ad tech revenue streams (programmatic, impressions-based, and SaaS contracts)
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Ability to identify, design, and implement process improvements and automation initiatives within the department
  • Partner with FP&A to support budgeting and forecasting
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports for executives and stakeholders
  • Act as a hands-on leader, rolling up sleeves as needed while managing and mentoring the accounting team
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team by providing training, performance feedback, and growth opportunities to build a high-performing team
  • Oversee ERP/accounting system enhancements (NetSuite preferred) and integrations with Salesforce and Concur
  • Assist with external audits and coordinate audit requirements with auditors
  • Collaborate with business leaders to provide insights and improve financial operations

Qualifications

  • CPA or MBA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams
  • Proven ability to be a hands-on leader, balancing team oversight with individual contributions
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition (ASC 606)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead AR, AP, and revenue accounting functions in a growth-oriented environment
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to partner cross-functionally

Preferred Experience

  • Background in ad tech, media, or SaaS industries
  • Hands-on experience with: NetSuite (ERP), Salesforce (CRM), Concur (expense management)
  • Prior experience in a PE-backed high-growth company
  • Mix of both public and private experience
  • Knowledge and experience implementing AI within a Finance team
